by their daughter Angela with her husband Stuart Calvert. |
|
The foundation
mares descended from ponies Joy rode as a child. One of these Basford
Coppertoo produced Basford Elegant who became one of the most successful
riding pony stallions of recent times His progeny have been very successful in the show ring and he has sired winners at both the RIHS and HOYS. |

His influence is still strong and he has proved to be an
exceptional broodmare sire and several of his daughters have been retained by
the stud. |

Basford
Court Jester, the only UK stallion by Basford Elegant, returned home in 2003
following the dispersal of the Rillaton Stud. He is impeccably bred from the
very best of riding pony bloodlines. He is producing quite exceptional show
and hunter ponies from a wide selection of mares. His progeny had an
extremely successful 2006, the highlight of which was Rillaton Trade Fair
winning the 122cm SHP class at both the Royal International Horse Show and
the Horse of the Year Show. |

For 2008 we will be standing the
home bred, 143cm, 6 year old grey stallion, Basford Buccaneer. He will be available
to a limited number of mares. He is by Chiddock Gumbo out of Warfield Greta
Garbo (by Brianston Moor (TB)). All his progeny are available for part bred
Arab registration. |
|
|
Buccaneer
has a fabulous temperament and quite exceptional balance and movement. He
will be aimed mainly at the sports pony market. Buccaneer's first crops of
foals are outstanding. |
